Abstract

A system for fastening a cover to a body of an explosion-proof enclosure using a plurality of fastening devices. Each fastening device can include a first load distributing member disposed on a body flange of a body of the explosion-proof enclosure, and a second load distributing member disposed on a. cover flange of a cover of the explosion-proof enclosure. A fastening device can also include a securing member having a top end disposed on the first load distributing member and a bottom end disposed on the second load distributing member. A fastening device can further include a cam rotatably coupled to and positioned atop the first load distributing member.

Abstract

A maintenance sensing system for an enclosure is described which may include a filter system which controls air flowing into the enclosure, wherein the enclosure is suitable for explosive environments, and wherein the filter system comprises at least one enclosure coupling feature that couples to the wall of the enclosure so that the enclosure complies with industry standards for explosion-proof enclosures. A sensor may be included that measures an operating value of an operating parameter inside the enclosure, wherein the operating value is associated with the air flowing into the enclosure through the filter system. A control device operatively coupled to the sensor may also be provided which receives the operating value from the sensor; determines that the operating value exceeds a threshold value; and performs a maintenance operation to reduce the operating value of the operating parameter inside the enclosure.

Abstract

A system is described herein for actuating at least one feature of multiple features of a device located inside an enclosure. The system can include a depressor extending through an aperture in a surface of the enclosure. The depressor can include a depressor shaft having a first depressor end and a second depressor end, where the first depressor end is accessible from outside the enclosure. The depressor can move between an undepressed state and a depressed state. The second depressor end can contact the at least one feature of the multiple features of the device when the depressor is in the depressed state.

Abstract

An electric power distribution and control apparatus has a stack of conductive plates each having a plurality of spaced contact pads and conductive traces connecting the contact pads to others of the pads. At feast one of the plates has contact terminals for connection to electrical components for supply of electrical current. An array of contact pins pass through holes in the plates at a respective one of the contact pads such that the array of pins provides connection between selected contact pads of different selected conductive plates. An electronic system for connection to a communication bus is added to the above known system by providing a main circuit board having the electronic components thereon, a mapping circuit board having a plurality of contact pads thereon arranged for connection to respective ones of the array of pins and a header having a male pin array and a female socket array connecting the main printed circuit board and the mapping circuit board.

Abstract

A lighting unit includes a housing, a lamp fixture configured to be coupled to the housing, an element extending from the lamp fixture and configured to be received in the housing, and a sealing member defining an aperture for receiving the element therethrough. A periphery of the aperture forms a fluid- tight seal around the element. In another aspect, a lighting unit includes a housing and an enclosure coupled to the housing and configured to define an interior space, wherein the interior space is sealed from an interior of the housing. In another aspect, a method for sealing a lighting unit includes providing a housing, an enclosure coupled to the housing, and an opening in the housing in communication with the enclosure, placing a seal between the housing and the enclosure, and applying a sealing member to the opening to seal the opening.
